What happens at your wedding dress appointment

A glass of prosecco is waiting when you arrive, and up to four guests can come with you for the perfect number of support and suggestions.

We begin with a chat about your wedding date, your venue and the dresses you have saved on your phone, then our experienced bridal stylists pull gowns from across the in-store collection to match, and you are welcome to wander the rails and add your own picks.

Fitting areas sit side by side, so you’re sharing the excitement with other brides as you try on your favourites and become part of the Bijoux community. It feels like a celebration with friends.

Trying on, clipping and saying yes to the dress

Our stylists clip and pin each sample dress on you, with close attention to detail, so you can see how the finished dress will sit once it has been altered.

Trying styles back to back is half the fun. It is also the quickest way to find out which shape and neckline feel right when you look in the mirror.

Some brides say yes to the dress during their first visit and others come back for a second look with a different guest or two, which is just as welcome.

Sizes 6 to 36 and gowns for every bride

The sample rails stretch from UK size 6 up to 36, and we cater for every bride who walks in, whatever her shape, style or plans for the day.

The EveryBody/EveryBride line from Essense of Australia begins at size 18 and runs to 36, built around curvier figures, which gives plus size brides gowns designed for them.

Budget is always considered by our stylists at the very beginning. We want to ensure every dress you try is one you can happily say yes too,

We also always consider your wedding timeline, so you’re only falling for gowns that will arrive in time.

And if your big day is just around the corner, not to worry! Our ready-to-wear dresses are priced from £499 to £999, they are quickest way to find your dream dress!

Wedding dress styles from lace ballgowns to crepe sheaths

At Bijoux, you can step into a stunning ballgown with a full tulle or organza skirt and see it spread around you in the mirror.

We also have sheath gowns in smooth crepe and fine lace, and A-lines with fitted bodices and skirts that open out from the waist, ready for a walk down the aisle and an evening of dancing.

Our range of styles includes fit and flare gowns that follow your waist and hips before opening into a fuller skirt.

Made to order, quick delivery and ready to wear

Bijoux has a collection for every timeline and journey.

Made to Order gowns arrive around twenty-four weeks after you place the order. Once yours arrives, we’ll invite you back for your dress reveal appointment to try on the gown you’ll be wearing on your wedding day.

We recommend allowing nine to twelve months for choosing your dress, ordering and alterations. If you have around seven months, speak to our stylists about what’s possible for your date.

If you’re getting married sooner, our Quick Delivery gowns are brand new designer dresses that take roughly twelve weeks, for brides who want to experience the thrill of waiting for their very own wedding dress that has never been worn before!

Our Ready to Wear dresses leave with you on the day you buy them, with usually just one of each available in the boutique.

Alterations and accessories after you say yes

After a delivery in the Made to Order and Quick Delivery collection, an independent seamstress helps it fit perfectly. This process may include altering the hem, fit, and bustle, and typically can take anywhere between six to twelve weeks to get perfect.

Our bridal stylists always factor in alterations when suggesting a collection, so your timeline stays stress-free. For Made to Order gowns, we typically advise booking an appointment nine months before your wedding date.

Bijoux doesn’t just stock dresses!

We have a hand-selected range of veils and headpieces to complement your dress.

During your final reveal, we encourage you to try them on to see the completed look together. And if you already found your chosen veil, bring it along!

Before you visit Bijoux

You need very little preparation.

Photos of your dream dress, whether on a Pinterest board or a single screenshot, give our stylists a good starting point, and your wedding date and venue help them think about fabric and train length.

Think about who you’d love beside you when you step out in a dress you’re excited about. Bring the people who help you feel comfortable and enjoy trying on your favourites.

Wear underwear you feel comfortable in, and bring any shoes or jewellery you already own if you would like to see them with a gown.

Hamilton is around twenty minutes by car from Coatbridge in normal traffic, with the M73 and M74 linking the two, and brides also arrive from Glasgow. You will find us at 50 Castle Street, ML3 6BU, with free street parking at the door.

Coming from Coatdyke, Whifflet or Sunnyside, you can end your appointment with lunch in Hamilton.

Opening hours are 10:00 to 20:00 on Tuesday and Thursday, 10:00 to 17:00 on Wednesday and Friday, and 09:30 to 17:30 on Saturday. The boutique is closed on Sunday and Monday to give our wonderful stylists some well-deserved time off!

Is there a Bijoux bridal shop in Coatbridge?

The boutique is on Castle Street in Hamilton, a short drive from Coatbridge, and we welcome brides by appointment.

Can I book an appointment on a weekday evening?

Tuesday and Thursday appointments run until 20:00, which suits brides and bridesmaids who work during the day. Saturday is the busiest day, so if you are looking for an appointment book in advance to secure your spot!

Do you have your own seamstress for alterations?

Alterations are carried out by an independent seamstress who looks after the standard work such as hemming, fit adjustments and the bustle. She will talk you through what your particular dress needs at your first fitting, and you will see the same person at each visit.

What if a gown is not available in my size?

Our stylists clip and pin samples to show how the dress will look on you, so a different sample size does not stop you picturing it. Your own gown is then ordered in the size that suits you.

Is it possible to buy a dress and take it home that day?

Yes, if you choose from the ready-to-wear collection of ex-sample gowns and some brand-new styles. Each design is usually a single piece, and a lookbook sign-up lets you see what is on the rail before you come.
