I’m Lynsay, the founder, and I’m excited to share my story about why I started Bijoux. This experience inspired me to create Bijoux – a place where brides can feel safe, understood, and celebrated.

Our Story
The bride who
didn’t belong
2009Back in 2009, I was just like you – a bride-to-be, thrilled yet anxious about finding the perfect wedding dress. I’ve always had body image struggles and felt uneasy in my own skin.
The bridal shops I visited made me feel like I didn’t belong. They were intimidating, the dresses didn’t fit, and I felt judged. Trying on dresses felt like being on a stage with everyone watching…
A shop that
felt like home
…It was the opposite of the joyful experience I had dreamed of.
Everything changed when I discovered a small bridal shop in a village in the West of Scotland. It was warm and welcoming, and most importantly, it felt like home.
The staff understood me. The dresses fit beautifully. And I felt like I was treated with the kindness and respect I deserved.

2011I opened Bijoux in 2011 in an industrial estate in Motherwell, right next to a tyre replacement garage.
It wasn’t glamorous, but it was mine, and it was built with love and passion.
From day one, I was involved in every part of the business – operations, sales, marketing – you name it.

2014Bijoux grew faster than I ever imagined.
By 2014, we moved to a larger location, and we’ve continued to expand every year since.
But no matter how much we grow, our core mission remains the same: to provide a welcoming, non-judgemental space for brides of all shapes and sizes.
