Sottero and Midgley Wedding Dresses
Where Maggie Sottero leans towards romantic elegance, Sottero and Midgley is the label for brides who want bolder lace, richer fabrics, and fashion-forward detailing that carries more visual weight.
Launched in 2006 under the Maggie Sottero Designs umbrella, the collection is named for Kelly Midgley, the fifth-generation family member who now leads the company as CEO and Creative Director.
The dresses share the same internal construction and built-in support as the main Maggie Sottero line, but the design approach is more couture and more deliberately statement-making. We carry Sottero and Midgley at Bijoux Bridal in Hamilton, just outside Glasgow, across UK sizes 6 to 36.
How Sottero and Midgley differs from Maggie Sottero
The simplest way to understand the two labels is design personality. Maggie Sottero starts from classic, romantic bridal design and adds modern detail, while Sottero and Midgley starts from high fashion and channels it into wedding dresses with more architectural silhouettes, heavier embellishment, and bolder lace.
Where a Maggie Sottero gown might use soft Chantilly lace with fine beading, a Sottero and Midgley design from the same season will use dimensional lace layered over glitter tulle with hand-beaded appliques and illusion panels.
Both labels share the same Maggie Magic inner construction, so the fit, support, and built-in shapewear are identical regardless of which you choose. The third brand in the family, Rebecca Ingram, sits lighter and more whimsical. We stock both Maggie Sottero and Sottero and Midgley at Bijoux, so your stylist can pull from either during your appointment.
Kelly Midgley created Sottero and Midgley in 2006 to give brides an option within the family that pushed further into couture territory, and her design direction draws on red-carpet fashion while keeping the brand’s commitment to flattering construction.
Lead designer Eric Woo, with over 20 years in the industry, works alongside Kelly to translate those references into gowns that are dramatic without being costume.
Construction and fabrics
The construction inside a Sottero and Midgley gown is the same engineering that runs through every Maggie Sottero Designs label. Built-in shapewear lining, inner corsetry, strategic boning, and bra cup grading across four sizes mean the bodice supports and smooths without needing separate undergarments.
Strapless styles include inner elastic for security, and the soft jersey lining sits comfortably against the skin throughout the day. For sizes 16 and above, additional centre front and princess seam boning provides extra support.
The fabrics are where Sottero and Midgley steps up from the main collection. Jacquard, structured satin, and silk appear more frequently alongside tulle, organza, mikado, and crepe, and the lace favours bolder motifs with dimensional layering rather than the finer, softer patterns you see across Maggie Sottero.
The embellishment is richer throughout, with hand-beaded detailing, illusion panels, plunging necklines, and statement backs that give the gowns their red-carpet quality. Three skin-tone lining colours are available.
The lacework across Sottero and Midgley uses more dimensional techniques than the main line, with layered motifs, embellished mesh overlays, and 3D appliques that create texture you notice when you see the dress in person. The way different lace layers interact with glitter tulle underneath gives the gowns a depth that photographs particularly well.
Styles and the 2026 collection
Sottero and Midgley covers every major silhouette, with A-line gowns, ballgowns, fit-and-flare shapes, mermaid designs, and sheaths all represented.
The styling tends towards the dramatic compared to the main Maggie Sottero line, with deeper necklines, more ornate lacework, and heavier embellishment giving each design a stronger visual presence.
The Spring/Summer 2026 collection brings basque waistlines, cat-eye necklines, exposed boning used as a design feature, and off-the-shoulder designs alongside double-lace trains and colourful options beyond traditional ivory.
Named styles like Alvarez, Constance, and Kalinda show the range, and if you’re drawn to detailed wedding dresses, the 2026 Sottero and Midgley designs bring particularly rich detailing to the current season.
Customisation runs across the collection, with options for detachable sleeves, tulle capes, overskirts, bodice coverage adjustments, and neckline changes.
Trying Sottero and Midgley at Bijoux
We carry both Sottero and Midgley and the main Maggie Sottero collection at Bijoux, so you can compare the two labels side by side during your appointment. If you arrive five or ten minutes early, you’re welcome to have a look through the rails before your appointment starts, and plenty of brides find something on the hangers that catches their eye before they’ve even sat down. From there, your stylist leads the appointment, trying different silhouettes and levels of detail on you to narrow down what works, pulling from Sottero and Midgley and across our other designers as you go, and many brides try gowns from both because the construction quality is shared even though the design personality is quite different.
Once you’ve found your dress, our independent seamstress handles any final alterations. They work with Maggie Sottero Designs gowns regularly, so they understand how the boning and corsetry sit and where the seaming runs.
