Every gown at Bijoux comes from a designer who takes fit seriously across the full size range. Our collection includes Maggie Sottero, Essense of Australia, Stella York, Justin Alexander, Mori Lee, Milla Nova and Allure Romance, and each of these designers engineers their gowns with the same attention to detail whether it’s a size 8 or a size 34. The boning is placed to support and define the bust. The bodice seaming follows the natural curves of the body. The fabrics are chosen to drape, skim and move rather than pull or cling.

We also stock Essense of Australia at Bijoux. Their plus size range is particularly impressive, with structured corset bodices, luxurious fabrics and silhouettes that look stunning on curvy figures. Whether you’re looking at a sweetheart neckline in crepe, a V-neck ballgown in tulle or a strapless fit and flare in satin, the construction and quality are beautiful.

Ballgowns are a favourite at Bijoux. The full skirt creates that classic fairy-tale shape, balanced by a structured bodice that defines the waist and supports a fuller bust. Many brides love the way a ballgown feels, because the skirt floats rather than sits close to the body, giving you complete freedom to move, sit and dance.

A fit and flare follows the body through the bust and waist before opening from around the hip, showing your curves while giving you that lovely movement through the skirt. It’s one of the most popular choices for curvy brides because it skims beautifully without clinging. Mikado holds its shape and gives a structured, polished look that photographs well, while lace overlays add texture and romance and soften the line underneath.

Satin catches the light as you move, giving the dress a luminous quality that looks beautiful on curves, and tulle layered over a structured base creates volume and movement without weight. Many of our gowns combine fabrics, with a lace bodice over a crepe skirt, or a satin base under a tulle overlay, and our stylists can show you how different combinations change the whole feel of the dress.

We carry sample gowns across the full size range, and our stylists use clipping and pinning to show you exactly how each dress will look and feel when it’s made in your size. You’ll see how the bodice supports your bust, how the fabric falls over your hips, how the silhouette moves when you walk. That makes all the difference when you’re choosing the dress you’ll wear on the biggest day of your life.

Our stylists are trained to fit every body shape. They know which designers run generous or snug, how different fabrics respond to different figures, and how small adjustments to a neckline, strap or waistline can change the way a dress sits entirely.

What to expect from your appointment

Your appointment lasts 90 minutes. It’s you, your guests (up to three), and a glass of fizz. If you’d like to bring more, just get in touch and we’ll do our best to accommodate. Before you arrive, we’ll ask about your wedding: the venue, the season, any styles you’ve been drawn to and anything you know you don’t want. That helps your stylist pull a selection that’s tailored to you.

Once you’re in the fitting room, there’s no rush. Our stylists will bring you gowns across different silhouettes, fabrics and designers so you can feel the difference on your body. Many brides come in with one idea and fall in love with something completely different, and that’s one of the best parts of the experience. If you find your dress, our independent seamstress handles every adjustment to make it perfect.
