Bijoux Bridal is delighted to be hosting a Stella York trunk show at Bijoux on 12th and 13th November.
Ahead of the event, we’re taking a closer look at the designer behind the label and the details that give these gowns their playful character.
The family behind Stella York
Stella York belongs to Essense Designs, the bridal company that Martine and Wayne Harris founded in Perth, Western Australia, in 1992.
Martine Harris, Chief Creative Officer, leads the design team, drawing inspiration from the red carpet and the catwalk. Stella is Latin for star, which suits a label built around making a bride feel like the main event.

The intricate details Stella York is known for
Raised lace appliqué florals spread across the bodice and down the skirt, while hand-sewn beading catches the light whenever you move.
Underneath it all, corset boning gives the bodice shape and support, helping you feel secure in your gown.
Plunging necklines, leg slits and statement sleeves add the drama. Detachable bows and sleeves let you change your look between the ceremony and the party, with a bow giving an otherwise clean gown instant personality.
Fabrics and silhouettes of the dresses
Stella York’s fabrics range from soft tulle and chiffon to satin, Mikado and stretch crepe, giving you a choice of floating layers or clean, sculpted lines.
A-line gowns skim out from the waist and move easily. The fit-and-flare and mermaid styles follow the body before opening out, and sheath gowns stay slim from top to hem.

Stella York’s EveryBody EveryBride collection offers gowns in sizes 18 to 36. These gowns are designed for a curvier figure, with beautifully shaped bodices, lace that follows your curves and skirts that sweep around you as you walk.
Sara’s Stella York moment at Bijoux Bridal
Before coming to Bijoux, Sara struggled to picture herself in a wedding dress. The models she saw didn’t reflect her body, and visits to shops with only smaller samples had left her reluctant to try anything on.
Every bride deserves to feel welcomed, celebrated and excited about finding her dress. With UK sizes 6 to 36 in store, our stylists helped Sara explore different silhouettes, fabrics and necklines, listening to what she loved as she tried them.
Her fourth dress was the one: Jovie, style 7585 from Stella York’s EveryBody EveryBride collection, designed for a curvier figure. Sara chose hers with added sleeves and told us, “I left the appointment SO excited to try my dress on again, and anticipating the final look.”

Stella York Trunk Show is Coming to Bijoux

Bijoux is excited to be welcoming an exclusive trunk-show selection of Stella York gowns to our Hamilton boutique for a two-day event, including designs you won’t usually find on our rails.
Many of these visiting gowns will be here for the event only.
Come and discover the lace, sparkle and sweeping skirts up close, try on your favourites and picture the moment you walk down the aisle.
Bring the people you’d love beside you for that first look in the mirror. We’ll have the prosecco ready, and perhaps you’ll even find the dress you’ll say yes to!

Trying Stella York on and ordering it
Every appointment at Bijoux lasts 90 minutes and begins with a chat about the silhouettes and details you love.
Our stylists then pull gowns from across the boutique, and you’re welcome to browse the rails yourself.
We hold a wide range of sample sizes and use clipping and pinning to show how a style will look in your size, so you can picture the finished gown while the other brides around you cheer you on.
Once you’ve chosen, your gown is made to order, and our independent seamstress takes care of the alterations when it arrives.

Who is the Stella York designer?
Stella York is a label from Essense Designs, and Martine Harris, the company’s Chief Creative Officer, leads the design of its collections, which take their ideas from the red carpet and the catwalk.
Is Stella York the same as Essense of Australia?
They are sister labels from Essense Designs rather than the same brand, and we stock both at Bijoux so you can try them side by side.

How long does a Stella York dress take to arrive?
Gowns are made to order and take around 24 weeks to arrive, followed by six to twelve weeks of alterations with our independent seamstress, so we recommend booking at least seven months before your wedding.

We carry a selection of Stella York gowns rather than every style, and our stylists will talk you through what’s available when you book. The trunk show on 12th and 13th November is the best time to see a wider choice.
