Wedding Dress Styles and Bridal Fashion for Every Glebe Bride
Not sure which silhouette works for you? Don’t worry, most brides wind up changing their mind once they start trying things on. The bridal market moves at pace, and what you see on Instagram doesn’t necessarily translate to what works right in person.
Start by finding your inspiration online, then stop by and try it on. Your Style Specialist will take you through the choices and assist you find your dream dress, but here’s a brief overview of what you’ll discover in store.
A-Line
Picture a dress that’s tailored through the bodice and then sweeps out softly from the waist, creating a smooth, even shape that looks gorgeously on almost everyone. That’s the A-line, and if you’re not sure where to start, it’s often a great first try because the silhouette is forgiving, easy to wear, and adaptable depending on the fabric and neckline, whether that’s a plunging V-neck or a classic sweetheart.
Ballgown Dresses
A ballgown gives you that full, flowing skirt with layers of tulle or organza beneath a structured bodice, and seriously, what an entrance it delivers! Brides who long for that feeling of the full room stopping when they walk in really love this shape, and the volume of the skirt produces a stunning silhouette for photos and that walk down the aisle.

Fit and Flare in Glebe
Fit-and-flare gowns trace the body through the waist and hips before flaring out around mid-thigh, offering you gorgeous curve definition without the cling of a full mermaid. This silhouette also moves really well on the dance floor while still remaining elegant and put-together during the ceremony.
Mermaid
Mermaid dresses hug close from bodice to knee, then flare boldly. Head-turning. Figure-skimming. This silhouette looks stunning in crepe, satin, or heavily beaded lace.
Sheath wedding dresses
A sheath wedding dress hugs your natural shape from shoulder to hem in a sleek, simple line. If you are drawn to the idea of something effortless, you’ll often find yourself here, whether that’s a smooth column of crepe or a fine lace overlay with a gentle sweep train.

Wedding dress collections by style
We sort gowns by mood, not just silhouette. Our boho edit features soft fabrics, off-the-shoulder sleeves, and organic lace built for barn, garden, and countryside weddings.
Love a bit of texture and sparkle? Our detailed collection is brimming with gowns with hand-sewn beading, delicate embroidery, and statement lace applique. And if you’re more of a clean lines kind of bride, our simple wedding dresses are proof that a beautifully cut gown in a gorgeous fabric doesn’t need anything else.
There’s a expanding edit of wedding dresses with sleeves here too, from sheer illusion long sleeves to structured puff sleeves and delicate cap sleeves. A sleeve can dramatically change the look of a dress, and the only real way to find out what suits you for you is to slip them on in the fitting room.
Designer wedding dresses and bridal gowns
Every designer in our edit has been included because their wedding gowns drape superbly across a generous range of sizes and body shapes. You won’t find these collections together anywhere else in Scotland, and with over 15 years of experience in designer bridal, we can honestly tell you which labels deliver on quality, fit, and the way a bride feels when she slips one on.
The names on our racks say a lot about the story behind the collection: Essense of Australia (we’re the only stockist in this part of Scotland, loved for luxurious couture silhouettes, French lace, silk chiffon, and soft appliques), Stella York (dresses that feel considerably more expensive than they are, ranging from minimalist crepe through to dramatic ballgowns), Maggie Sottero (love-filled detailing, soft tulles, and figure-flattering cuts across every silhouette, alongside the bolder Sottero and Midgley line), and Justin Alexander (traditional bridal elegance accented by fresh details like square necklines, sweetheart bodices, and clean satin finishes).
You’ll also come across Morilee (beautiful embellishments and inclusive sizing), Allure Romance (soft lace and soft, feminine lines), Ronald Joyce (structured glamour with a British sensibility), and Six Stories, which we were the first bridal boutique in Scotland to bring in. Each designer contributes something different to the mix, and your Style Specialist will recognise just which labels to suggest based on what you’re after. Throughout the year, we also host trunk shows, granting you advance access to new collections before they’re accessible elsewhere in Scotland.
