We spoke to bride Nicole about her Sherbrooke Castle, Glasgow Wedding. We find out about how she found shopping for her wedding dress.
How did you find the wedding planning process?
“We found the wedding planning process mostly stress free. All of our suppliers were super helpful in supporting the planning process with lots of good advice and helpful tips.”
Were there any wedding suppliers you would recommend?
“We would like to recommend a good few of our suppliers. First off Sherbrooke Castle wedding venue, Glasgow, for the outstanding service and attentiveness throughout the wedding process.
Gary Thomson the humanist made our ceremony so personal to us and our story.
Leanne Heron and Jamie Stone the photographers for capturing our wonderful day and their attention/dedication to detail.
Shannon Dempsey for the stunning hair that lasted all day for myself and the bridesmaids.

Did you hit any hurdles in the wedding planning process?
“Navigating expectation was a big one for us and making sure that the day stayed true to us as a couple. We originally had a barn wedding in mind but quickly realised that was not our reality, trying to stay focused on what Sherbrooke Castle had to offer kept us feeling excited for the day. We had a change of bridesmaid dresses that overall worked out better in the long run as collectively we felt they were more true to who the bridesmaids were and their overall comfort for the day.“
How did you find shopping for your wedding dress?
“I felt previously overwhelmed with going to one store first before coming to Bijoux. But once I visited Bijoux and the warmth that I experienced when walking through the door, I knew it would be an experience I would never forget. Lynn listened to exactly what I was looking for, she made some excellent recommendations and ultimately I said yes to the dress that day. I didn’t feel pressured to buy a dress I just felt supported and heard. Not only did I have a wonderful day but my bridesmaids came with me and had a wonderful experience too.”
How did you feel before, during and after your appointment at Bijoux?
“I felt excited for my appointment after seeing and hearing good recommendations; particularly a recommendation from one of the bridesmaids as she works in the wedding industry. I loved the pre-appointment phone-call as I felt that showed the attention to detail that is delivered at Bijoux. During my appointment I couldn’t have felt better and we were all filled with emotions of joy and had a wee cry when I had tried on ‘the one’. After my bridal appointment I felt confident I said ‘yes’ to the right dress, I never doubted it wasn’t the one, which meant Lynn listened to exactly what I was looking for, even if that wasn’t what I had envisaged to begin with. I felt taken care of afterwards by the lovely team. Everything was explained in detail.“
Was the dress you chose, the dress you had imagined you would wear?
“No it was not the dress I had imagined. I tried on the dress that I had envisaged and felt something was missing. Lynn had recommend to try on another dress and I had saw the dress online and thought it was stunning! Lynn gave me the confidence to try it as I wasn’t sure my shape would work with the style of dress, she reassured me with her knowledge and I tried on the dress. Instantly, I knew that was the dress I had been looking for all along. All of my bridesmaids and myself started crying as I walked out in the dress, that’s when we knew it was the one.”
Do you have any advice for a bride-to-be who is searching for her dream dress?
“I felt everything was explained to me thoroughly, particularly about bridal sizing which is different to UK sizing and I felt this was very useful. My advice would be to go in with an open mind and try on styles that you feel are true to you. But with recommendations from a bridal stylist as their experience and knowledge within the industry really helps to find the exact dress for you.”
So, what was your wedding day at Sherbrooke Castle like?
“Our day truly was the best from start to finish and was everything we could have dreamed of and more. Our ceremony was very personal to us. We were considering doing a first look before the ceremony, but instead we opted for a moment to ourselves later in the day which we feel we would recommend to anyone getting married. The dinner was surreal and we managed to get outside during dessert and get some golden hour pictures. The evening reception was so memorable and everyone including grand-parents were up on the dance floor. Try to just enjoy the day as much as possible, as the atmosphere rubs off from you as a couple and all our guests commented on the vibe of the day was wonderful.”
