To celebrate the launch of our brand new flagship store, we’re taking a look back at our beautiful Bijoux Brides who bought their gown from our Cadzow Street store over the years.
Shannon and Michael share their love story with us below…
Bijoux Bridal: How did you and Michael meet?
Shannon: I met Michael in Citylink where we both worked 9 years ago. It wasn’t love at first sight but after talking & flirting constantly we both fell for each other. The laughter brought us both together for sure.
BB: Tell us about the engagement Shannon! How did it happen?
S: On 5th May 2014, Michael asked my dad to go for a game of golf while my mum and I were watching TV. They were only gone ten minutes before coming home – at the time we thought the golf must have been closed.
When they came back, Michael was hanging around the TV. Then all of a sudden my dad reached into his pocket and handed Michael a box. He got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. We were all crying with joy and happiness.
As I’m an only child, I am very close to my parents. So I’m glad that Michael asked my dad for my hand in marriage the traditional way and involved them both in the proposal.
BB: So when it came to picking your dream dress, what was your experience and how did you decide on “the one”?
S: When I first went into Bijoux I knew right away I would find my perfect dress.
The girls were amazing with me. As a plus size girl, I knew I had come to the right store. I tried on about five dresses – they were all stunning but I had one final dress to try on.
As soon as I put it on I just knew it was the one. The tears were flowing with this dress. It was just perfect for my shape, it had the sparkle and lace I wanted. It was just stunning.
As soon as I showed my mum she burst out crying also and was shouting “that’s it!”. I came back when my dress was ready and picked my veil & tiara. The girls in the store were amazing again with me and I picked both with ease.
BB: So you had the perfect engagement, you’ve found your dream dress… but what about your wedding?!
S: We got married on Saturday 5th August 2017 at St Augustine’s Chapel, Coatbridge then on to the Glynhill Hotel in Renfrew.
The sun was shining and it was just the perfect day for both of us. Our colour scheme was emerald green which stood out and was a very vibrant colour on my four bridesmaids.
The theme was Superhero as Michael is a big fan. Our cake was half superhero, half white and glitzy. I had a lot of fun designing the invites and table plan because it was a bit different. We had the best day!
