Rachel and Paul

Our gorgeous #BijouxBrides share their Bijoux Love Story with us every month. Check out our latest love story below from Rachel & Paul…

Bijoux Bridal: Where did you and Paul meet?

Rachel: We met at a 21st birthday party almost 6 years ago. Paul came up to me and asked my name and then the Dirty Dancing medley song came on so we danced to that. After that I didn’t speak to him the rest or the night or for another month after!

BB: Tell us about the engagement Rachel! How did it happen?

R: We got engaged in Florence which was the most perfect proposal for me. I always wanted it to be somewhere abroad and he got down on one knee right outside the Duomo which is the big Cathedral. His knee was hardly touching the ground and I had already whipped the ring out of the box oops! Best memory was then walking around Florence and Venice the next 4 days feeling as high as a kite.

BB: So when it came to picking your dream dress, what was your experience and how did you decide on “the one”?

R: Finding the dress was one of my favourite parts of the wedding planning process. It was just my mum that came with me which I’m really glad about – we had a really special time choosing the dress together. Bijoux was the first shop we went to which I’m so glad about because it is now a perfect memory as we were both a little nervous and the girls at Bijoux especially Natalie just made it fun which it should be. After 7 bridal shops, about 300 miles and 4 weekends later we went back to Bijoux and bought the first ever dress I tried on.

BB: So you had the perfect engagement, you’ve found your dream dress but what about your big day? Tell us about it!

R: Our wedding was perfect. I know every bride will say that but we honestly had the best day from the minute I woke up (5am as I couldn’t sleep!) to the minute everyone went to bed. We got married in Aberlady Parish Church then our reception was at the Macdonald Marine Hotel in North Berwick. My favourite memory was walking out the church when we had just got married and the sun was splitting the trees. The weather just made the day. We were able to get outside for the drinks reception and have some delicious ice cream! It was lovely to see all of our guests enjoying themselves and we just loved the whole day. Our last song was ‘I’ve had the time of my life’ from Dirty Dancing because of how we met which turned out to be hilarious so I’m so glad we chose that!

BB: If you could recommend Bijoux to another bride, what would you say?

R: I would definitely recommend Bijoux Bridal to all future brides and bridesmaids too. Every one of the girls that work there cannot do enough for you and they make they make you feel like your the only bride they’ve ever seen. They are genuinely excited for you and out of all the bridal shops we went to I just felt the best I could when I was in there. There is no pressure either it’s just a lovely experience. Yan the lovely seamstress is also amazing at her job and the alterations part was also made so easy. I had no doubts it wouldn’t fit perfectly.
